Happy Friday Franklin. I hope you are having a wonderful start to your summer, which officially started yesterday (summer solstice).

The summer solstice is the longest day of the year if you live in the Northern Hemisphere. For our readers in the Southern Hemisphere, it was the shortest day of the year.

I’m sure that a few more weeks of high heat will have us counting down the days until fall (93 days if you’re wondering).

BUZZWORTHY NEWS

Franklin on the Fourth is a family-friendly, patriotic festival taking place in Downtown Franklin. There will be arts, crafts, food, and entertainment. Festivities kick off at 10am and the Patriotic Pet Parade starts at 10:30am. There will be live music throughout the day with the headliner coming on at 3:30pm. The Children’s Parade starts at 5pm, and you can register your kids for free at the Lions Club booth the day of the event (line up starts at 4:45pm). There will be fireworks at the Park at Harlinsdale Farm at 9pm (the park opens at 6pm). This event is put on by the Franklin Lions Club in partnership with the City of Franklin.

Zach Bryan will premiere tracks from his upcoming album "The Great American Bar Scene" at various bars nationwide. Beginning next week, his anticipated album will debut in 23 bars across the country, including our very own, Fox and Locke. Zach shared on X/Twitter that he’ll be visiting a few of the bars on the list. The full release of the album is scheduled for July 4.

The Franklin Police will soon be equipped with LifeVac Kits — a portable suction rescue device that can help save children or adults who are choking. Over 12,000 kids are taken to the hospital each year due to choking-related incidents and at least one child dies from choking every five days. I bought my own LifeVac Kit off Amazon a few months ago. You can buy them here.
