Greetings Franklin. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving last week.

I think it’s now fair game to start playing some Christmas music…

No judgment if you started playing it in November.

BUZZWORTHY NEWS

Franklin Christmas Tree Lighting on The Square
The City of Franklin is excited to light up the square Friday, December 6th, for the 2024 Christmas Tree Lighting on the Square, one of the best tree lighting events in Middle Tennessee!  Free photos with Santa will be provided beginning at 6pm, with a Pet Friendly hour from 5-6pm.

The headliner, Matthew West, is a five-time GRAMMY® nominee, ASCAP’s 2023 Golden Note Award recipient, and NSAI’s 2022 Songwriter-Artist of the Year. He has received an American Music Award, a Billboard Music Award, K-LOVE Fan Awards, GMA Dove Awards and named Billboard’s Hot Christian Songwriter of the Year. Dubbed “one of Christian music’s most prolific singer-songwriters” by Billboard, West has been awarded RIAA Gold and Platinum certifications and notched 30 number one songs combined as an artist and songwriter. Opening for Matthew will be John-Mark McGaha. He is an acclaimed singer, actor, storyteller and multi-instrumentalist. The Freedom Intermediate School choir, led by Director Candace Adams will return this year to sing holiday favorites.

The Franklin Art Scene will also have the Art Crawl that night happening in many stores from 6-9pm. The Franklin Noon Rotary will hand out free refreshments from the City of Franklin.

The festivities begin at 6pm. Performances will start at 6:40pm. The tree lighting will take place around 7:15pm.

Road Closures
Phase 3 of the Downtown Area/Lewisburg Avenue Water and Sanitary Sewer Improvements project began yesterday. This phase focuses on the intersection of 5th Avenue and S. Margin Street, where crews will be replacing water and sanitary sewer lines. This phase is expected to take approximately 2 months. Here is a map of the closures

Franklin Christmas Parade
Winding through the heart of Historic Downtown Franklin, the Franklin Christmas Parade is a beloved community celebration of Christmas traditions and the magic of Main Street. For over 30 years, this cherished event has filled the streets of Franklin with holiday cheer, bringing joy to participants and spectators alike as we gather to celebrate the season and welcome Santa Claus to town.

This year, the theme is “Miracle on Main St.” — a tribute to the wonder and charm that makes Franklin’s Main Street so special during the holidays. The parade will highlight the historic beauty of our downtown while celebrating the warmth, spirit, and togetherness that define our community.

The Franklin Christmas Parade is always held on the first Saturday in December, following the City’s Christmas Tree lighting.

Join us on Saturday, December 7, at 1:00 PM for a magical holiday experience on Franklin’s Main Street!

HOLIDAY GUIDE

My wife, Ashley, put together a guide for the holiday season that was really well done. You can download it here.

Also, she put together a graphic on Instagram of December events in the area. You can check that out here.

Ashley is a realtor in Franklin. If you or anyone you know needs a realtor, she’s a good one.
