Also, tomorrow is the official start of the NCAA March Madness Tournament. There were “First Four” games yesterday and today but the rest of the teams will tip-off tomorrow. If you’re doing a bracket, it needs to be submitted tomorrow by 11:15am CST! (The Franklin Buzz is not hosting a bracket challenge this year).

The state of Tennessee is well-represented in the tourney with four teams making it: Tennessee, Lipscomb, Vanderbilt, and Memphis.

New Park Opening in Franklin
The City of Franklin and its Board of Mayor and Aldermen will break ground on the Pearlene M. Bransford Complex on Wednesday, March 26th, at 11:30 am at 3452 Carothers Parkway.

The new park, “The Pearl," on the City’s southeast side will feature football and lacrosse fields, a playground called “Ellie G’s Dream World”, an ADA-accessible riverwalk, and restrooms. Future phases will feature additional sports fields, sand volleyball courts, pickleball and basketball courts, a Clean Water Facility, an educational walking trail along the Harpeth River, Robinson Lake and other amenities. This historic milestone celebration will take place on the bridge; please follow the signs for parking.

The Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted to name the new 233 acre Southeast Municipal Complex and Robinson Lake area after Pearlene Bransford, the former alderman who passed away in 2020.  Pearl was a resident of Franklin for more than 35 years and a public servant for most of that time. She served the City as an at-large alderman from 2007 until her death in 2020.

Franklin Ranked in “Best cities of the South”
Franklin was ranked among Southern Living’s “Best cities of the South” ranking for 2025. This year’s list included three cities in Tennessee - Franklin, Nashville, and Chattanooga.

Here is what the magazine had to say about Franklin: “The heart of Franklin is the walkable main drag in the downtown historic district, which is filled with small businesses, restaurants, and a beautifully restored vintage theater." "This area is especially beautiful and festive in the fall, but there’s never a bad time to visit.”
