Good day, my friends.
Is anyone else discouraged by the 4:30pm sunsets?
At least we donât live in Utqiagvik, Alaska. In this little town 330 miles north of the Arctic Circle, the sun set Monday at 1:27pm local time and it wonât rise again until January 22nd. For 64 days, residents will be living in whatâs known as polar night (h/t Morning Brew).

BUZZWORTHY NEWS
FrankTown Festival of Lights
If youâre not ready yet for Christmas music then perhaps youâll be ready to go see some Christmas lights this weekend. Starting this Friday and going through December 31st, you can experience Williamson Countyâs drive-through holiday light display at the FrankTown Festival of Lights.
The show runs every night of the week, 5pm - 9pm, at the Williamson County Ag Expo Center. Celebrate the holidays with with the nightly mile-and-a-half light spectacular, featuring more than 200 synchronized lights. Listen to holiday music on your car radio, take selfies by the stunning Christmas tree, make sâmores by the fire pits, and savor snacks from the food truck.
Walkinâ Wednesdays
Guests can park their cars and walk the lighted route by purchasing a passenger vehicle ticket (good for up to 8 walkers) or a large passenger vehicle ticket (good for 8-15 walkers). Dogs on leashes are welcome. Finish the night by taking photos at the giant tree and making sâmores over the fire pit! This yearâs Walkinâ Wednesdays are November 27 and December 4, 11 & 18. Walkers are allowed on the route from 5:00-6:30 pm. The route opens each of these nights at 7pm for cars.
Made South Holiday Market
The Tenth Annual MADE SOUTH Holiday Market is taking place this weekend (11/22 - 23) at The Factory in Franklin. Come do all of your holiday shopping with a variety of the finest makers and artisans the South has to offer. Enjoy delicious chef tastings, cocktails and a live music stage. More than 60 makers and artisans from across the South will be part of the event Food & Wine Magazine calls "the best holiday market in the state of Tennessee.â
MADE SOUTH is partnering with One Generation Away. A portion of ticket sales will go directly to OneGenAwayâs mission to eliminate food insecurity. Attendees can also add a donation of $5 or more during checkout.
OneGenAway is committed to providing food to families in need, and as the year draws to a close, fundraising becomes more crucial than ever. Donations made during this time directly contribute to OneGenAwayâs ability to stock mobile food pantries and ensure that no one goes hungry during the holidays.
Franklin Police Dept: âNot in Our Mallâ
As the holiday shopping season approaches, the Franklin Police Department is launching its annual, Not in Our Mall operation. Beginning this week, there will be a heavy police presence of uniformed and plain clothes officers inside Cool Springs Galleria and its parking lot, in addition to other area shopping centers. The Franklin Police Department is working closely with mall security, the district attorneyâs office, and other community partners to ensure shoppers and retailers remain safe.
âTo those who are planning to exploit and break the law in our city, we will catch you and put you in jail,â according to Franklin Police Chief Deb Faulkner. âThis is not the place to do it.â
The Franklin Police Department would like to remind shoppers to:
⢠Make sure your vehicle doors are locked
⢠Donât leave valuables inside your vehicle
⢠Stay alert while shopping. Keep an eye on items like purses and shopping bags
⢠If you see something, say something. For emergencies, dial 9-1-1. For non-emergency police assistance, call (615) 794-2513
