🐝 Happy Easter Weekend

Best Easter Candy, Football Camps, and More

Happy Friday, Franklin.

I hope everyone is getting ready for a great Easter Weekend.

Easter represents much more than candy and Easter egg hunts. But it is interesting to look at the candy stats by state:

Tennessee answered this one correctly, with Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs being the most popular Easter candy in our state (and 35 other states).

People are reportedly moving to Tennessee, Texas, Florida, and the Carolinas because of the lower taxes, lower crime rates, and warmer weather.

I think we might be underestimating the most significant driver — people just want to live in a state where Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs reign supreme.

If you get any photos with the Easter Bunny this weekend, hopefully he’ll look less scary than these creatures:

If you want a good laugh, go check out these creepy Easter Bunny photos from back in the day.

BUZZWORTHY NEWS

🏈 “You think football is fun?” “Zero fun, sir” according to Petey Jones from Remember the Titans. Great movie if you haven’t seen it. Speaking of the Titans, registration for the Titans Youth Football Camps is now open. Ages 7 - 14. Dates and locations vary. More information can be found here.

👨‍🎓 Williamson County Fair Scholarship Deadline: We are 126 days away from celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Williamson County Fair (8/2 - 8/10) but we are only 3 days away from the deadline to submit an application to earn scholarships. You can find the 2024 application here. Vendor and sponsorship applications remain open.

🔔 More Phone Notifications Coming Soon but this one’s important. The Franklin Fire Department has launched a new alert system to warn motorists of approaching emergency vehicles and emergency scenes. For vehicles that have the Emergency Vehicle Alert System feature or navigation apps such as Waze and Apple Maps, the HAAS Alerting System will notify motorists in a 30-second radius of nearby emergency vehicles. Reminder: Tennessee state law requires you to slow down or move over for emergency and utility service vehicles when it’s safe to do so.
