Happy Monday Franklin.

While the costs of many goods and services are increasing, we’re finally experiencing decreasing payouts to children for lost teeth.

That’s right, the Tooth Fairy’s margins have been squeezed, and as a result, kids across the country are getting less money per tooth.

The tooth fairy’s average gift value dropped 6% from $6.23 last year to $5.84 this year, according to Delta Dental. The trends over the last 25 years have typically mirrored the economy’s direction and tracked closely with the S&P 500.

That’s where the questions start to arise. Why have payouts decreased when the stock market has increased year over year? Perhaps the Tooth Fairy shorted the market in 2023 and invested too heavily in commodities, crude oil, and Chinese Equities.

In related news, kids across the country have banded together to form a union to fight against unfair wages from lost teeth.

The Tooth Fairy and parents around the country are expected to build their defense around the fact that the rising prices per tooth were unsustainable. The current payout per tooth represents a 349% increase from 1998 when a lost tooth paid out $1.30.

The Tooth Fairy and parents are expected to call Elizabeth Francis to the stand who, at 114 years old, is the oldest living person in the United States. The going rate per tooth in 1909? “A nickel per tooth.”

The kids’ union (Kids R Us) is expected to be represented by Pearson, Specter, Litt, as a Pro bono case. The kids argued that they couldn’t afford to pay for any legal representation due to the low wages they’re getting from lost teeth.
