BUZZWORTHY NEWS

Friends of Franklin Parks - Bourbon Raffle
For the first time ever, Friends of Franklin Parks is holding a Bourbon Raffle as part of its annual Raise the Roofs fundraiser at the Park at Harlinsdale Farm on Saturday, August 17th. The incredible collection of bourbon includes more than 50 sought-after bottles, from which 20 prize lots have been carefully crafted. Tickets are $100 each, with winners to be announced at 8:30pm on August 17 live via Facebook.

Among the most coveted in the world, the Grand Prize is a Van Winkle set of six bottles including Pappy Van Winkle 23 Year; Van Winkle Family Reserve 13 Year Rye; Van Winkle Reserve 12 Year Lot B; Pappy Van Winkle 15 Year Black Foil;  Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year 107; and Pappy Van Winkle 20 Year, valued at $20,000. Other collectible verticals include the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, W.L. Weller, Blantonā€™s, Willet, Makerā€™s Mark and other venerated Kentucky distilleries, and local distilleries that call Williamson County home.

The Raise the Roofs event has become one Franklinā€™s most cherished summer events, and this year promises to be the best yet. Franklin Mayor Dr. Ken Moore and his wife Linda are co-chairing the party under the stars with Lisa and Dr. Monty McInturff, the organizationā€™s founding president.

A limited number of tickets to the 13th Annual Raise the Roofs event are available, but it will sell out. Bourbon Raffle ticket purchasers do not need to be present to win. For more information on the Bourbon Raffle or Raise the Roofs, please visit www.friendsoffranklinparks.org

Best Places to Live Ranking
Fortune released its yearly rankings of the Best Places to Live for Families and Franklin made the list at number 6. Fortune puts out a Top 50 list after doing an analysis of over 2,000 cities across the country. Here are a few notes from the Fortune write-up on Franklin:

ā€œLocated roughly 20 miles south of Nashville, Franklin retains the capitalā€™s music scene while offering a more laid-back community. You can see big-name artists in small venues, and the city hosts the Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival every year on a 230-acre farm, featuring acts like Dave Matthews Band and Noah Kahan.

The area has a lively downtown. There are a number of independent stores, many of which sit alongside art galleries on the historic Main Street. Dating back to 1799, itā€™s listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Factory at Franklin is just steps away, home to artisan goods, delectable food, and live entertainment. And Franklin hosts several spots on the Tennessee Whiskey Trail, such as Company Distilling and Oā€™ Be Joyful.

High schools are top rated and have received awards, with a 96% graduation rate and a culture thatā€™s big on football and tailgates. Franklin is a major Civil War site, where the 1864 Battle of Franklin took place.ā€
